Products I’ve Used Up #2

I’ve been collecting all my used up products to do another one of these posts and I’ve waited so long to post it, that I almost have another full basket! Talk about procrastination. Most of the time it’ll be skin care that’s used up, because I am addicted to skin care. I want to try everything new and everything that claims to make my skin more radiant, clear, younger, smoother, and even. I’ve been trying to kick my make-up wipe habit but it’s just so easy to use them to remove and then follow with a cleanser instead of faffing around with bioderma, cleansing oils, and other remover liquids.

1. Neutrogena Deep Clean Wipes ($6) – Used to be my favourite because it could remove anything, but they smell strongly of alcohol.  I no longer purchase them because of it.

2. Up&Up Exfoliating Cucumber Wipes ($5) – These did not do anything. I would have to use at least 2 wipes to remove my make-up and even then there would still be left overs.

3. Aveeno Positively Radiant Wipes ($7) – These are my go-to wipes right now. They have a really pleasant smell (side note: Everyone I let borrow one says they love the smell of them). And they remove the make-up really well. I’ve loved a lot of the  “Positively Radiant” line, so far.

4. Proactiv Step 3 : Clearing Lotion –  Step 3 is the best part of the whole 3 step program. Some of the vending machines/kiosks will let you just buy this step. It’s a definite must for bad acne days.

5. Lush Mask of Magnaminty ($25) – Best clay mask ever!! Has a great smell & great pay off! I will be re-purchasing once I use up the rest of my clay mask collection.

6. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($50) – This stuff will always be my favourite facial oil. It smells amazing, sinks in quickly, and works miracles. The smaller bottle seen here lasted me a full year, so don’t let them talk you into the bigger bottle!

7. Neutrogena’s All In One Makeup Removing Cleansing Lotion ($6) – This stuff sucked!! It didn’t do at all what it claimed. I ended up using it as a brush cleaner and it still didn’t work well for that so I threw it out.

8. Bath & Body Works Winter Candy Apple Bubble Bath ($10) – I’m not a fan of their body washes but I love their bubble baths and this scent is one of my favourites.

9. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation ($8) – This foundation is really good at making you look awake! It looks like there is chunks of glitter when looking at the bottle but don’t let it fool you. It is a really good medium coverage. Really oily girls beware though, it may not last long on your skin type.

10. Make-Up For Ever HD Primer – This is only a sample, but it had a lot of product! It lasted me a good month. I definitely liked the effects but I’m still a primer sceptic, so I think I’ll stick to samples.

11. Satin Smooth Ultimate Collagen Eye Lift ($15) –  I bought these at a beauty supply store (Cosmoprof) with the intentions of bringing them to a wedding I was in. I bought two packs enough for the bride, each bridesmaid, and one tester. I used the tester a month before the wedding and thank goodness because I had the worst reaction!! My skin looked burnt, bright red, flaky, dry and super tight all around my eyes. I would have felt so bad if I didn’t test this and it happened to the bride and everyone else before the big day!

12. Tresemme Heat Protectant ($5) – One of my favourites! Any recommendations for other for others would be much appreciated.

13. Salon Quality Dry Shampoo ($4) – Didn’t make my hair feel clean, nor did it give any volume. It left a sticky residue and just left my hair feeling dirtier.

Products I’ve Used Up (#1)

(Top 3 are Lush Fresh Face Masks)

Ayesha: One of my favorites, will definitely repurchase.

Catastrophe Cosmetic: Smelt a little too strongly of calamine, don’t think it did much for my skin but I don’t have a lot of redness and sensitivity.

Cosmetic Warrior: The smell of this was HORRID! I don’t think I could ever purchase this again, no matter how good it was. The chunks of garlic and the smell of dirt and grass was intense and it lingered.

Rimmel Volume Flash Max Mascara: This mascara didn’t do much for me. I tried applying one coat alone, two coats alone, and layering with other formulas. Nothing seemed to do the trick so I got rid of it before it was even done.

Maybelline Great Lash Lots O’ Lashes Mascara: This will always be one of my favorite mascaras. I usually always use it for a base to a more voluminous mascara or just one coat on a lazy day. This is also amazing for lower lashes because of the unique brush, instead of splurging on the Clinique version.

Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara: I’m still partial to Lancome’s Doll Eyes mascara and wasn’t as impressed with this formula. But, if I had never tried Doll Eyes, I would have liked this one a lot more.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara: This wand did nothing for me. If anything it just irritated my eyes. It’s so stiff and sharp that it kinda hurt to wiggle the wand near the lash line.

Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara: I was so excited to get a sample of the most talked about mascara! To be honest, I didn’t really like it! I did like the idea of the brush with the ball on the end but it wasn’t my favorite formula.

St.Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion: I bought this for my recent trip to Hawaii and I loved it! Being able to just spray it on and rub it in makes one thing so much quicker. I bought the coconut & orchid scent which smells divine. I’ve already bought a new bottle. (side note: If you have seriously dry skin, this won’t do the trick. Definitely more of a summer lotion)

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner: Kiehl’s will always be one of my favorite skin care brands. This toner was amazing for when I went through a dry stage with my skin, it really quenched those areas allowing my makeup to go on more smoothly. I will most likely purchase this again when we get closer to next winter.

Tresemme Split Remedy Leave In Conditioner: LOVE THIS! Super lightweight, but makes your hair feel so soft. I am definitely going to purchase this again but I might buy a few other brands versions as well to compare.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer:  I was really into this moisturizer in the summer months but I’ve now recently switched. I’m going to finish off the few I have as of right now and then I will most likely go back.

Fashion Recap: Oscars 2014

The Oscars were last night and my house was lucky enough to keep power long enough to watch the whole thing. The wind and snow were intense last night; breakers were blowing and branches were breaking all over the neighborhood. Recent awards ceremonies I haven’t been too excited on many outfits but last night I loved a lot of the looks but I narrowed it down to my top 5!

1. Jennifer Lawrence

She is amazing! I love her in Dior, I love the necklace draping down her back, and I love the fact that she tripped walking the red carpet. I need to see American Hustle ASAP!

2. Kate Hudson

She is my favorite actress and every red carpet she seems to kill it! This Versace dressed looked flawless on her and it got even better when she removed the cape like draping when she presented an award.

3. Olivia Wilde (& Jason Sudeikis)

Rocking Valentino while pregnant and looks amazing. I loved the white panel detailing in the back and the high neck. Jason Sudeikis  (My ultimate celeb crush) was also looking pretty handsome!

4. Sandra Bullock

Could Gravity have won any more awards?! I was never drawn to seeing that movie but now after the Oscars, I feel like I need to! I loved this deep navy Alexander McQueen gown on her with her side swept curls. Elegance at its best.

5. Angelina Jolie ( & Brad Pitt)
Another duo, I know! But the guys looked just as great that evening. Angelina Jolie is never one of my favorites, I’m not sure why. This long sleeve, beaded Elie Saab dress was perfection on her. She was glowing and looked super feminine.

Another few honorable mentions of my other favorites were:

- Kerry Washington: Uhhh hello gorgeous pregnant lady in purple!
Lupito Nyong’o: Nirobi Blue. Enough said.
Jennifer Garner: That fringe was gorgeous but her hair was my favorite.
Anne Hathaway: Someone I’m not usually a fan of looked gorgeous in Gucci.
Emma Watson: This metallic Vera Wang top & skirt was everything to me.

Review: Veet Wax Strips

Waxing is not an option in my world, it’s necessary! If I stuck to shaving, I swear I would have to do it every third day just to keep away stubble. I previously used only the microwaveable pots of wax by Andrea (which I still love). The pot became a bit of a hassle because it was messy and I was constantly running up and down the stairs to reheat the wax.

I always saw wax strips in the drugstore but never trusted their “removing power”. I finally decided to buy them and I am so glad I did! It works just as well as the pot, if not better. There is absolutely no mess and dare I say, no pain. Also the strips are very long, cutting your leg waxing time in half. The only thing is that certain areas, I would prefer to still use the pot for precision application (ex. eyebrows & bikini).

The box comes with either 20 or 40 strips. You will only have half the amount because you’ll be warming them up between your hands and pulling them apart creating two strips. You also receive four “Perfect Finish Wipes”. These are used once your done waxing to soothe the skin and prevent irritation.
